Clinical Supervision

Dr Dorothy Armstrong offers clinical supervision to Occupational Therapists. Clinical Supervision allows the therapist a space to reflect on practice and to their update knowledge and skills. It forms part of their programme of Continued Professional Development (CPD) which is a requirement for CORU registration and part of our code of ethics as Occupational Therapists. Clinical supervision is also important for ongoing support and well-being. It can be helpful in setting priorities, managing your caseload and allowing yourself invaluable time to reflect and grow as an Occupational Therapist.

Dorothy will:

  • Meet with you to draw up a contract of clinical supervision reflecting your individual needs;
  • Draw up a Professional Development Learning Plan with you in line with the CORU requirements for continued professional development;
  • Set up regular times for supervision which work with your schedule. Sessions are generally online depending on your location;

Supervision Testimonials:

“Clinical supervision with Dorothy has been a very valued and supportive experience. Dorothy’s expertise and thoughtful feedback have been crucial in developing, not only my clinical knowledge and skillset, but also my confidence as a clinician. As a neurodivergent Occupational Therapist, working with a neuro-affirmative supervisor has been a validating and encouraging experience which has enriched my clinical practice in turn. I could not recommend Dorothy more highly as a supervisor.”

“Dorothy has been a really helpful supervisor in supporting my clinical reasoning, developing my skills and navigating wider work issues that arise. I achieve so much in just one hour supervision every few weeks with her!”

“Dorothy has been supervising me as an Occupational Therapist, and the other members of our Occupational Therapy department, for almost one year. During this time I have found Dorothy to be extremely helpful, supportive, reliable and knowledgeable. She is an excellent and highly skilled mentor who has a lovely, calm, and gentle manner. Her expertise and passion for her work has been evident during all our sessions. Dorothy is a genuine, kind and compassionate person and she has guided and advised me with all aspects of my work. Dorothy has been invaluable asset to myself and our entire OT department, and I am honoured to strongly recommend her for any similar role.”
